God Wants His Children Back

Even with all of our mistakes, opposition, and learning that accompany our mortal experience, God never loses sight of our eternal potential, even when we do. We can trust Him “because God wants His children back.” And He has provided a way through the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Atonement “is the core of the plan of salvation.”

— Carole M. Stephens

In our journey through life, we all have times when we wander from the path of truth. We make shortsighted choices, we willfully choose to ignore guidance we receive, or we trip up due to our weaknesses. Regardless of how we get lost, we all may look up one day and find that we have wandered far from the path we wanted to follow.

When this happens we may be afraid or self-critical. We may feel guilty for our mistakes and missteps. At these times we may believe we are doomed to stay lost forever or that we somehow deserve the troubles and trials we encounter.

Our loving Heavenly Father knew when he sent us to mortality that we would struggle and stumble and wander. He knew we would occasionally get lost and He provided a way for us to be found and to return to the safety of the gospel path.

He knows each of us.

He knows you. He knows your name. He knows your hopes and dreams and your struggles and fears. And, knowing all this, He loves you perfectly and unconditionally.

He loves you so much that He sent Jesus Christ here to Earth to provide a way for you to return to your heavenly home through the Atonement. All we need to do is trust Him, repent, and strive to keep the commandments and draw closer to Him. Through the Atonement, we can all safely return to our heavenly home.

How do you feel about the Atonement in your life right now?
