About

I want to help others build foundations for eternity by helping them more deeply understand basic truths.

My name is Dave Haslam. I am a husband and a father of four wonderful children. I love spending time with my family and seeing my wife and children grow and do amazing things. They always impress me with the amazing things they do and I am grateful every day to have them all in my life.

I absolutely love to learn and I try to learn something new every day. I get super excited when I discover some insight that helps me understand things from a new perspective. Also, I love to share the things I learn with others.

That is the purpose of this blog, to share things that I have learned with you in the hope that it might help you understand something in a new way, too. Even if we don’t always agree, I hope that at least we can learn and grow together.

Life is an amazing journey! You never know what is going to happen and what kind of unexpected experiences will come your way. Sometimes the journey of life brings opportunities that give us reason to rejoice. Sometimes the journey of life brings trials that bring us to our knees.

Whatever life brings our way, I know we can enjoy the journey and that each one of us can grow and thrive and bless others. It all depends on how we choose to see things and how we choose to experience the world around us.

I sincerely hope that the things I share here help you as I know they have helped me. I hope these ideas help you to experience more joy on whatever road you are walking. Thank you for joining me on this journey!

My Book

As part of my efforts to share learning and lift others, I have also expanded upon some of the topics I have written about in this blog in a book titled The Promise of Hope: Finding Hope When You Face Challenges and Trials (I know that is a long subtitle, but that is what it is). If you like the writing I have done here on my blog, I would love to have you check it out. If you are interested in my book it can be purchased in paperback or ebook versions from Amazon.

My Biography

As I mentioned, I am a husband and father. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Trisha, for over 20 years. Our four children are all amazing and I love the opportunities I have to teach them and help them learn and grow.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission for my church in Nagoya, Japan where I had the opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with the wonderful people of Japan. As a missionary, I loved being able to help people understand truths they had never known before.

In my professional life, I am a software engineer. I have worked for a Microsoft, Take2, Disney, and HireVue.

In 2019, I decided to start this blog as a way to share thoughts and insights in order to try and help others strengthen their faith. Since then I have also written a book. It is my plan to continue to write and reach out to lift and help others draw closer to Jesus Christ.

In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, camping and hiking. I love to spend time with my family and playing boardgames. I live in Bluffdale, Utah.
