Lost and Found

Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it.

— Rabindranath Tagore

Have you ever been lost? I’m not talking about not being able to find a particular address. I’m not talking about missing a turn when following directions from a GPS. I mean really being lost.

Not knowing where you are or how to get back to something familiar can be a terrifying experience.

Some of us have felt that inner fear and the pit in your stomach that comes when you find yourself lost. But whether you have ever experienced such fear when traveling or not, you have likely had times when you have been gripped by the fear that you are lost.

When we are faced with this fear, we can find ourselves reaching to heaven and asking for help. Often our first instinct is to ask to be delivered from our troubles and fears. We are lost and simply want to found. But if we are simply returned to safety, we can miss a massive opportunity to learn and grow.

We can face our fears with courage. We can learn to conquer our trials. And when we feel faint of heart, we can rely on our Heavenly Father for support. He will help give us the strength we need to overcome the trials and challenges that often surround us. We just have to move forward with faith.

What aspects of your life today have you feeling overwhelmed and afraid? Imagine what it would feel like to have overcome your fear. What can you do to move towards that state of courage now?
