A neighbor recently shared his testimony of his birthday. He talked about how he has experienced his birthday many times. He has faith that his birthday is coming and that it will continue to come. He has a testimony of his birthday.
I have a testimony of light switches. I know that when I flip a light switch the light will turn on. Why do I have this faith? I have faith in light switches because I have experienced the result of using a light switch thousands of times. I have faith in light switches.
Now, it may seem silly to compare faith in a birthday or faith in a light switch to faith in Jesus Christ. In reality, however, they are not that different. Just as I have seen what happens when I flip a light switch many times, I have also seen the effects of following Jesus Christ repeatedly throughout my life. I have seen that when I follow Jesus Christ I am blessed.
Often we treat our faith in Christ as though it is somehow different. Like it is some mysterious thing. Just like using light switch or waiting for our birthday, we can trust that following Christ will bring blessings into our lives. We can know that His promises are true. We can rely on Him. All we have to do is choose to follow Him. He can then take care of the rest.
